Dangote Group Expands Its Fertilizer Production with EIL’s Expertise

Mumbai, November 26, 2025 – The Dangote Group, Nigeria’s leading multinational conglomerate, has announced a major expansion of its Fertilizer Complex located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone. This strategic move involves Engineers India Limited (EIL), an esteemed engineering consultancy affiliated with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas of the Government of India, which will serve as both the Project Management Consultant (PMC) and the Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCM) consultant.
About the Dangote Group
Based in Lagos, the Dangote Group is a powerhouse in the industrial sector of West Africa, with business interests that include oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizers, cement, sugar, and food. The conglomerate operates in 17 African countries and employs a large workforce. Its notable 650,000 barrels-per-day Integrated Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in the Lekki Free Zone is among the largest of its kind globally. The Group’s existing Fertilizer Complex currently produces 2.65 million tons of urea each year, playing a crucial role in the global agricultural sector.
Role of Engineers India Limited (EIL)
EIL has established itself as a leader in the engineering consultancy domain, handling projects from conception to commissioning. The organization boasts a strong track record in sectors such as oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, fertilizers, metallurgy, infrastructure, and renewable energy. Previously, EIL partnered with the Dangote Group to bring the iconic Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex to life, which commenced operations in 2024.
Expansion Details
The collaboration between EIL and the Dangote Group will significantly enhance the Fertilizer Complex’s capabilities. The expansion includes the addition of four new fertilizer production trains, aiming to transform the facility into one of the world’s most prominent nitrogenous fertilizer hubs. Upon completion, the Dangote Fertilizer will boast a staggering annual production capacity of 8 million tons of urea and feature six fully integrated Ammonia-Urea production trains.
