The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) made a significant move by apprehending a Senior Accounts Officer and Senior Assistant from the office of the GST/Customs Department in Hyderabad, Telangana, in connection with a bribery case that unfolded on 02.09.2025.
The CBI initiated the case on the same day against the aforementioned individuals along with unidentified accomplices. The accused officers were allegedly involved in soliciting a bribe amounting to Rs. 30,000 from a retired Assistant Commissioner of the GST/Customs Department in Hyderabad. The bribe was reportedly demanded in exchange for facilitating the release of arrears linked to a pay parity bill. Following negotiations, the bribe sum was eventually lowered to Rs. 25,000.
Upon setting up a sting operation, the CBI successfully apprehended both suspects red-handed while they were soliciting and accepting the bribe of Rs. 25,000 from the complainant. Subsequently, the accused officials were taken into custody.
Presently, investigative searches are being conducted at the residential properties of the accused individuals located in Hyderabad as part of the ongoing probe.
