The Ministry of Power Extends Additional Charge to Shri Bhupendra Gupta

The Ministry of Power, Government of India, has recently announced the extension of the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN Limited to Shri Bhupendra Gupta. This new appointment, effective from August 01, 2025, comes as a recognition of Shri Gupta’s capabilities and expertise in the power sector.

Shri Bhupendra Gupta, currently serving as the Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited, has an illustrious career spanning over 32 years, with a significant focus on hydroelectric and transmission projects. Prior to his role at THDCIL, he held the position of Director (Technical) at the Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority in Bhutan, showcasing his international experience in the field.

With a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and an MBA in Operation Management, Shri Gupta brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his new role. His tenure at REC saw him leading key projects in the power sector, demonstrating his proficiency in areas such as project management, execution, and consultancy.

Before his time at REC, Shri Gupta spent 12 years at SJVN Ltd., where he played a vital role in the planning, erection, and commissioning of the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Plant, a significant milestone in India’s hydroelectric landscape. Additionally, his experience in Bhutan working on the Tala Hydroelectric Power Project further enriched his expertise in the field.

Shri Bhupendra Gupta’s extensive experience and proven track record make him a valuable asset to the power sector, and his continued leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and success of SJVN Limited.
