New Delhi:The long-awaited appointment of the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) appears to be moving towards its conclusion, with high-level sources indicating growing consensus around the name of Vikas Kaushal.
According to people familiar with the matter, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) is believed to have shown a favorable stance towards Kaushal’s candidature. While no official notification has been issued so far, industry observers suggest that if the process continues as expected, Vikas Kaushal could take over as the next CMD of HPCL.
The selection for HPCL’s top post has been under discussion for several months and is seen as a crucial development within the energy sector. With a nationwide network of nearly 24,000 retail outlets, HPCL holds a key position in India’s oil and gas infrastructure, making the leadership transition particularly significant.
However, sources also caution that until a formal announcement is made, the possibility of last-minute changes cannot be entirely ruled out. Industry experts advise maintaining a wait-and-watch approach until an official communication is released.
All eyes are now on the final approval from the ACC and the concerned ministry. If Vikas Kaushal is confirmed, it would mark the beginning of a new chapter in HPCL’s leadership, steering the company through the evolving dynamics of the energy sector.
For now, the process remains ongoing, and any definitive conclusion will depend on the official confirmation from the government.
