PowerGrid Corporation Enhances India’s Renewable Energy Capacity with New SPVs

In a significant development, REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has handed over two project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). The SPVs, Rajasthan IV-C Power Transmission Limited and Rajasthan IV-E Power Transmission Limited, were formed to evacuate power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone Phase-IV (Jaisalmer/Barmer Complex).
Enhancing Renewable Energy Transmission Capacity
The two projects, awarded to PGCIL through Tariff-based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), aim to strengthen India’s renewable energy transmission infrastructure. The Rajasthan IV-C Power Transmission Limited project involves the construction of a 765/400 kV pooling station, 171.75 km of 765 kV line, and associated works. The Rajasthan IV-E Power Transmission Limited project includes the development of a 765 kV substation and 339.24 km of 765 kV line.
Accelerating India’s Energy Transition
The handing over of the SPVs marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards a sustainable energy future. With the projects expected to be implemented within two years, they will play a crucial role in enhancing the country’s renewable energy transmission capacity. RECPDCL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has been instrumental in facilitating the development of these critical transmission projects.
