New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) will issue an official notification today about the selection of a new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) for GAIL (India) Limited.
With the current CMD, Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta’s term coming to an end, the application process for eligible candidates from public sector enterprises and qualified professionals has been initiated in accordance with the norms set by the Department of Public Enterprises.
The incoming CMD will be responsible for defining GAIL’s strategic direction, overseeing its operations, and fostering growth in its natural gas transmission and marketing divisions. GAIL, a Maharatna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is a key player in India’s energy landscape, managing a network of over 14,500 km of natural gas pipelines spanning 21 states with a dominant market share in transmission.
The selection process outlined by PESB involves shortlisting candidates, conducting interviews, and obtaining final approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), subject to clearance from the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
