“Oil India Soars in 2024 CDP Ratings, Strengthening Green Commitment”

“Oil India Soars in 2024 CDP Ratings, Strengthening Green Commitment”

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is a global environmental disclosure system that evaluates companies based on their climate change and water security initiatives. In 2024, Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna CPSE, has demonstrated significant progress in sustainability by improving its CDP ratings. The company’s Climate Change rating has been upgraded from F to C, while a B- has been secured in Water Security.

Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director of OIL, stated, “We are proud to see OIL’s sustainability initiatives yielding positive outcomes. The improved CDP ratings are a testament to our focused approach to addressing climate change and water security challenges. As a responsible energy company, we remain committed to reducing our environmental footprint and driving sustainable growth.”

The enhanced Climate Change rating reflects OIL’s increased transparency and proactive measures in reducing carbon emissions. Additionally, its sustainable water management initiatives have been recognized with the improved Water Security rating.

As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, OIL introduced its ESG Strategy under project ‘Santulan’ at India Energy Week 2025. This roadmap outlines key initiatives for greenhouse gas reduction, water neutrality, plastic waste management, and biodiversity conservation, aligning with the company’s Net Zero target by 2040.

By adopting innovative technologies and improving resource efficiency, OIL continues to align with global and national climate goals, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability.
