Oil India, NEEPCO sign 15-year gas deal for Assam’s energy needs.

Oil India Limited (OIL) has recently formalized a significant 15-year Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), ensuring the continued supply of 1.4 MMSCMD of natural gas to NEEPCO’s Assam Gas Based Power Station (AGBPS) in Bokuloni, Dibrugarh.

This new agreement, which extends the previous 10-year arrangement, was officially signed at the AGBPS office by OIL’s Executive Director (Business Development), Sh Ranjan Goswami, and NEEPCO’s Executive Director (Operation & Maintenance), Sh Bijit Kumar Goswami.

The AGBPS, noted as Assam’s largest gas-based power plant, is crucial for addressing the energy demands of the region. This renewed partnership underscores OIL’s commitment to leveraging its substantial reserve base to provide reliable gas supplies, thus supporting the energy needs of Assam and the broader Northeastern region.

This collaboration not only enhances regional energy security but also aligns with the broader goal of promoting affordable and clean energy solutions. As OIL continues to expand its upstream activities, it plays a pivotal role in India’s strategic shift towards a more gas-focused energy economy, reflecting its status as a cornerstone company in the Northeastern energy sector.
