NTPC CMD Hunt is still an unfinished task

New Delhi, 21 May 2025: In a not too unpredictable development, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has not recommended any candidate for Chairman Cum Managing Director( CMD) position in NTPC.This reveals that the hunt for NTPC’s CMD has hit a wall, at least for the present. Without a recommendable candidate in sight, PESB was bound to shake things up, as NTPC is an important and leading Maharatna in the Power Sector. It’s track record is unparalled and it has an excellent reputation amongst investors as well as the common public. The move could mean pivoting into the well traversed path of Search cum Selection Committee to arrive at some game-changing results for snorkeling a top-tier PSU leader. If done quickly it can even avoid the cycle of extensions. Interestingly, PESB with all the wisdom at its disposal, this time round, has chosen its advice on future course of action very carefully. Of course, such advice should not become amenable to creative pathways.
