NMDC Vigilance Initiatives Launched in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD — Highlighting the link between corporate integrity, record growth, and responsible mining, NMDC Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee emphasized that the company’s strong sustainability performance compares favorably with international mining peers, reflecting its deep-seated commitment to responsible operational practices.

Speaking at a high-level capacity-building programme organized by NMDC’s Vigilance Department in Hyderabad, Mukherjee addressed executives from across the region, linking ethical governance directly to the PSU’s operational and social milestones.

In his address, the CMD highlighted NMDC’s milestone achievements, including:

* Record Iron Ore Production: Achieving peak production levels while maintaining rigorous operational transparency. * Diversification: Expansion into new mineral mining initiatives to strengthen national resource security. * Community Impact: Widespread Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives designed to elevate the livelihoods of communities surrounding operational units.

* Global Benchmarks: Sustainability metrics that align with and compare favorably against leading global mining enterprises.

The event, held under the aegis of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) with the theme ‘Probity for Prosperity,’ also served as the launchpad for major digital and governance initiatives. Key rollouts included a new vigilance portal for NMDC Steel Ltd (NSL), an automated online quarter management system for employee housing, and the release of the second edition of the NMDC Vigilance Manual, 2026.

Attended by 113 senior executives across 18 public sector organizations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the programme featured sessions on procurement transparency, cyber hygiene, and preventive vigilance—reinforcing the message that ethical oversight and high business performance go hand in hand.
