Hyderabad, June 5, 2026: NMDC, India’s largest iron ore producer and a Responsible Miner, observed World Environment Day 2026 at its Head Office in Hyderabad and across projects nationwide. The company reinforced its commitment to sustainable mining and environmental stewardship.

The event focused on the theme ‘Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future’ and highlighted collective action for environmental sustainability. Celebrations began with ceremonial lamp lighting. Senior leadership, including Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD, Shri Joydeep Dasgupta, Director (Production), Shri Krishan Kumar Thakur, Director (Personnel), Shri Anurag Kapil, Director (Finance), and Shri C. Neelakanta Reddy, Chief Vigilance Officer, administered an environmental pledge to employees.
Awareness videos and a documentary on NMDC’s initiatives in environmental conservation, biodiversity preservation, afforestation, and sustainable mining practices were screened.
At project sites, plantation drives and competitions for employees and students were organised to promote environmental awareness and innovative sustainability ideas. Environment-friendly products were distributed to encourage sustainable habits.
