Subansiri and Parbati-2 Are Key: Power Secretary Demands NHPC’s Completion Dates
In a significant event today at the Northern Regional Power Committee (NRPC) office, NHPC presented a dividend check to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The program, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy, highlighted the progress of NHPC’s major projects and the importance of timely execution for India’s energy sector.
During the meeting, a top official from the Power Ministry underscored the critical role of the Parbati-2 and Subansiri Lower hydroelectric projects in bolstering India’s renewable energy capacity.
He urged NHPC’s management to expedite the completion of these projects, stressing the need for clear deadlines to ensure their swift commissioning.
In response, NHPC’s leadership has acknowledged the directives, with project completion plans currently under review and revised schedules being formulated for swift execution.
### Key Project Updates from NHPC:
1. *Parbati-2 Hydroelectric Project (800 MW):*
– The project is making steady progress, with the remaining construction expected to be finalized by *December 2024*.
– NHPC anticipates that the commissioning of the plant will take place in *January 2025*, adding substantial power generation capacity to the grid.
2. *Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project:*
– Hydro mechanical works will begin after the completion of the upstream dyke.
– The erection of radial gates is planned for *January-February 2025, with the first three units expected to be commissioned by **March 2025*.
The projects, when completed, will significantly enhance NHPC’s contribution to India’s renewable energy targets and provide much-needed power to the northern and northeastern regions. The successful and timely execution of these projects is critical for meeting the growing energy demands while ensuring sustainable power generation.
