NHPC-GPCL MoU: Powering Economic Growth with 750 MW Investment
New Delhi: 04 Jan-2024: In a strategic move to foster sustainable energy development and align with economic imperatives, NHPC, India’s premier hydropower company, formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL), Government of Gujarat, for a substantial investment in the Kuppa Pumped Hydro Storage Project (750 MW) on 03.01.2024.

This milestone, celebrated under the auspices of “Vibrant Gujarat,” saw NHPC committing an estimated Rs 4000 crores to propel the 750 MW project in Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat. The accord not only advances the national pursuit of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 but also supports the “Net Zero” target by 2070.
