IIT Ropar Director Prof. Rajeev Ahuja presented the degrees at ACC&S. Major General Vikram Varma, Commandant of ACC&S, and Dr. Sarang Gumfekar, IIT Ropar’s Dean of PG & Research, were also present. The source did not specify the ceremony date.
IIT Ropar and ACC&S developed the programme together
The M.Tech curriculum emphasises applied learning, hands-on research and problem-solving for Indian Army requirements. IIT Ropar describes it as the first advanced IIT postgraduate degree designed specifically for military applications.
“Today, classroom knowledge meets the battlefield. These officers will help India build its own defence technologies,” Ahuja said.
Graduates expected to support armoured modernisation
The graduates are expected to contribute to technology modernisation across armoured formations and support efforts to develop defence equipment domestically. The partnership also provides a framework for joint research into armoured vehicle technologies, advanced armaments and new materials.
Joint research targets defence technology needs
The initiative aligns with India’s stated goals of defence self-reliance and Viksit Bharat 2047. Its longer-term impact will depend on how the training and joint research are put to use.
