India’s IndianOil Panipat Refinery Makes History with ISCC CORSIA Certification

New Delhi, August 13, 2025 – IndianOil has etched its name in India’s sustainable energy narrative by securing the nation’s inaugural ISCC CORSIA Certification for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production at its Panipat Refinery. This achievement marks a significant leap towards India’s clean energy goals, emphasizing the country’s capabilities in producing, certifying, and distributing SAF.

The milestone was celebrated at a special event in New Delhi, where Mr. A. S. Sahney, Chairman of IndianOil, was presented with the certification by M/s Cotecna. The ceremony was graced by Mr. Rohit Mathur, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG), and Mr. Maneesh Kumar, Joint Director General of DGCA, alongside senior officials from MoP&NG, DGCA, and NABCB.

The collaboration and dedication of various stakeholders including MoP&NG, DGCA, NABCB, MoCA, and international certifying agency Cotecna were lauded by industry leaders for aligning India’s regulatory and production frameworks with global standards in sustainable aviation.

The ISCC CORSIA certification, developed by the ICAO, ensures that SAF from IndianOil’s Panipat Refinery adheres to the highest international sustainability and lifecycle carbon emission criteria. This recognition paves the way for Indian airlines to seamlessly incorporate certified SAF into their operations, setting a precedent for other domestic refiners and industry players to ramp up SAF production in line with India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.

This accolade cements IndianOil’s position as a pioneer in India’s energy transition, steering the country towards a more eco-friendly aviation landscape.
