India’s goal of Net Zero Emissions by 2070. Manohar Lal

Faridabad, November 7, 2025 – NHPC Limited, a distinguished ‘Navratna’ company under the Government of India, commemorated its 51st Raising Day and the landmark 50th anniversary with nationwide celebrations held at its Corporate Office in Faridabad and at various regional offices and projects. The event was graced by Shri Manohar Lal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, alongside other prominent officials and dignitaries.

During the gala event in Faridabad, a special “Customized My Stamp” depicting 12 iconic dams and barrages was released by India Post to honor NHPC’s contribution to the hydropower sector. An “Achievement Book” that chronicles NHPC’s journey of excellence and innovation over five decades was also unveiled.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Union Minister lauded NHPC for its pivotal role in national energy security and emphasized its significant part in achieving India’s goal of Net Zero Emissions by 2070. Shri Shripad Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State for Power, New and Renewable Energy, also conveyed his commendations through a video message, praising NHPC’s resilience and dedication.

Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Government of India, reiterated the government’s support for NHPC in spearheading the development of hydropower. Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, expressed gratitude for the continuous guidance from the Ministry of Power and acknowledged all stakeholders for their unwavering support over the past 50 years.

The celebrations included a flag hoisting ceremony, cultural performances, and an award ceremony recognizing the outstanding contributions of NHPC employees and projects. The event also marked the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ adding patriotic fervor to the celebrations.

As NHPC steps into another decade, it reaffirms its commitment to enhancing India’s power sector through sustainable and innovative practices, aiming to support the country’s journey towards self-reliance in energy.
