This launch is a critical component of India’s strategy to integrate more ethanol into its fuel usage, aligning with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. It aims to enhance the biofuel sector, support agricultural communities, and provide consumers with eco-friendlier fuel alternatives, thereby advancing cleaner transportation methods.
The introduction of E85 will initially take place in several major cities including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur, with the fuel being available at about 50 retail outlets.
The inauguration event is scheduled to be held at M/s Motor Ades on Dr KS Krishnan Road, Pusa Road, New Delhi, and will feature the esteemed Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas. The event, set for June 5, 2026, at 6:00 PM, will also be attended by the Secretary of MoP&NG, along with high-ranking officials from the ministry and leaders from the Oil Marketing Companies.
This is expected to bring India into the club of nations which have Flex Fuels, a vital step towards environment friendly fuels. Hardeep Sing Puri as the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas has taken several pathbreaking steps in the direction of modernization with an eye on environment protection.
