Divya Kala Mela 2025: A Beacon of Inclusion and Success

Concluding on a High Note: Divya Kala Mela 2025 Advocates for Inclusion and Independence

New Delhi, 21 December 2025. The Divya Kala Mela, a nine-day festival that champions the capabilities and contributions of people with disabilities, wrapped up today on Kartavya Path, India Gate. This event, which ran from December 13th to 21st, was organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It powerfully highlighted the entrepreneurial and artistic talents of Divyang individuals from across India.

Celebrating its 28th occurrence, the festival returned to its original venue at Kartavya Path where it first started in December 2022. Over the years, Divya Kala Mela has grown into a significant movement promoting economic empowerment, with more than 2,362 Divyang participants throughout its history, generating over ₹23 crore in business. In this year’s Delhi event, approximately 100 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from 20 different states showcased their products, including home décor, organic foods, and handicrafts, achieving sales over ₹2 crore. This reflects a robust consumer trust and appreciation for Divyang-led businesses.

The festival also focused on enhancing employment opportunities and financial inclusion for the Divyang community. A notable event was a job fair held on December 16, where 157 Divyang youth participated, and 99 were shortlisted, with many securing immediate job placements from well-known firms. Additionally, the National Divyang Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) approved loans totaling more than ₹1.05 crore to support Divyang entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, ALIMCO played a critical role in distributing and registering assistive devices, which are vital for increasing independence and productivity among people with disabilities.

One of the festival’s highlights was the “Divya Kala Shakti” cultural event on the closing day, featuring mesmerizing performances in dance and music by Divyang artists from the Delhi-NCR area, demonstrating that creativity knows no physical bounds. Furthermore, the Experience Zone and activities like Blind Cricket and Boccia provided attendees with a deeper insight into the lives of people with disabilities, promoting a culture of sensitivity and inclusive practices.

The organizers, including the DEPwD and NDFDC, expressed their gratitude towards the citizens of Delhi, local officials, and Kartavya Path authorities for their support in making the event a success. They reiterated their dedication to continue such initiatives, aiming to foster a society that fully embraces, dignifies, and provides equal opportunities to Divyang individuals, reinforcing their role in India’s pursuit of self-reliance.
