BPCL Takes to the Skies with Drone-Based Reforestation Initiative in Bihar
In a groundbreaking effort to enhance greenery in Bihar, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has launched an innovative aerial seeding project, “Aranya”, in collaboration with the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of Bihar, and an NGO partner. This pioneering initiative aims to reforest 50 hectares across three significant forest areas in the state, leveraging drone technology to deploy 100,000 seedballs. Environmental Sustainability Meets Community Empowerment The project, inaugurated by Dr. Prem Kumar, Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Government of Bihar, on August 20, 2024, at the Umga Reserve Forest in Aurangabad, is part of BPCL’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and community betterment. By engaging local communities and promoting environmental awareness, this initiative not only restores forest cover but also fosters economic opportunities.
