August 16, 2025: Bank of Baroda, a prominent public sector bank in India, marked the country’s 79th Independence Day with a range of initiatives centered around environmental sustainability, robust security measures, and national pride. In a ceremony held at the Corporate Office in Mumbai, Dr. Debadatta Chand, the Bank’s Managing Director & CEO, along with Executive Directors, senior officials, and staff members, participated in the flag hoisting ceremony.
One of the main highlights of the event was the unveiling of “bob Forest,” a dedicated 6,000 sq.ft. green space developed within the Bank’s premises at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai. Designed to promote urban biodiversity, bob Forest houses more than 100 indigenous trees and shrubs from the Sahyadri Mountain range and Western Maharashtra region. The area also features a rainwater harvesting system, eco-friendly seating areas, and walking pathways, creating a serene micro habitat in the heart of the bustling city.
The initiative includes sustainable elements such as compost-based soil enrichment, a solar-powered gazebo, oxygen generators, and a bio-gas plant, underscoring Bank of Baroda’s commitment to environmental conservation.
In addition to the environmental endeavors, the Bank launched its Updated Security Compendium, a crucial document that consolidates the latest internal security protocols, operational risk assessments, emergency response procedures, and regulatory guidelines. The aim is to enhance vigilance and preparedness across all branches and offices, ensuring a secure banking environment for customers and employees.
Dr. Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO of Bank of Baroda, expressed, “Independence Day serves as a reminder to renew our dedication to the nation and uphold the values of unity, resilience, and progress. At Bank of Baroda, we are committed to embodying these principles daily as we serve our customers and contribute to the country’s development. Our focus on environmental sustainability further exemplifies our ongoing efforts to create a greener future.”
