NMDC Steel Limited Achieves Unprecedented Production Milestones in November 2025

December 8, 2025, Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh: In a remarkable demonstration of operational efficiency and technological prowess, NMDC Steel Limited (NSL), one of India’s most modern integrated steel plants, has reported a series of record-breaking performances for the month of November 2025. This achievement underscores the plant’s growing capabilities and its pivotal role in the Indian steel industry.

Exceptional Production Figures Across Various Units

  • Raw Material Handling System (RMHS): Achieved a daily record on November 21, 2025, by handling 616 wagons. The month also saw the highest Base Mix production ever at 518,886 tons.
  • Sinter Plant: Set new records with 15,590 tons of sinter produced in a single day on November 30 and a total of 414,271 tons throughout the month, operating at more than 105% capacity.
  • Blast Furnace: Demonstrated exceptional efficiency with a daily production of 11,315 tons of Hot Metal on November 28, representing 119% of the rated capacity. The monthly output was 280,049 tons, crossing 101% capacity utilization. Noteworthy achievements include the lowest-ever monthly average fuel rate at 519 kg per ton of Hot Metal and the highest monthly average PCI rate at 164 kg per ton.
  • Steel Melting Shop & Thin Slab Caster-Hot Strip Mill: Recorded the highest monthly production of HR Coil at 203,356 tons, Crude Steel at 209,445 tons, and Liquid Steel at 215,010 tons. Capacity utilizations were impressive at 84%, 85%, and 86%, respectively. Additionally, the converter lining life reached a new high of 4,799 heats.

Expansion of Product Portfolio

During this period, NSL successfully transitioned two new steel grades, IS 2062 E450BR and IS 2062 E350C, into commercial production. This expansion enhances NSL’s offerings in sectors such as construction, infrastructure, and heavy engineering, further solidifying its market position.

Operational and Cost Efficiency

NSL’s focus on operational optimization was evident at its Oxygen Plant, where it achieved significant cost savings of approximately Rs 1.9 crores in power costs by operating in a single plant turndown mode. Additionally, the company completed Performance Guarantee (PG) Tests for its Blast Furnace (Pkg. 05) and Turbo Blower (Pkg. 10A) and secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) licenses for IS 2041:2024 and IS 2062 E450BR.

Leadership Commentary

Shri Amitava Mukherjee, the Chairman and Managing Director of NSL, commented on these achievements, stating, “The consistent record-breaking achievements across units reflect the dedication, discipline, and determination of our team. As India accelerates its journey towards becoming a global steel powerhouse, NSL is ready to play its part in India’s steel growth story with technology-backed efficiency, a growing product portfolio, and a commitment to nation-building.”
