India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas discusses crude oil supplies with OPEC Secretary General
(As Saleh, Special Correspondent from Abu-Dhabi) India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, met with the Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Haitham Al Ghais, on Tuesday to discuss the global crude oil market and India’s energy needs.
وشدد بوري على مكانة الهند باعتبارها واحدة من أكبر مستهلكي الطاقة في العالم ورؤيتها لضمان حصول شعبها على طاقة موثوقة وبأسعار معقولة. كما سلط الضوء على جهود الهند لتنويع مصادر الطاقة لديها، وتعزيز الطاقة المتجددة، والحد من بصمتها الكربونية. وأعرب عن أمله في أن تواصل أوبك دعم أمن الطاقة والنمو الاقتصادي في الهند

The meeting focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the oil demand and supply balance, the role of OPEC in stabilizing the market, and the prospects of cooperation between India and OPEC in the future.
Mr Puri emphasized India’s position as one of the largest energy consumers in the world and its vision of ensuring access to affordable and reliable energy for its people.
He also highlighted India’s efforts to diversify its energy sources, promote renewable energy, and reduce its carbon footprint. He expressed his hope that OPEC would continue to support India’s energy security and economic growth by providing steady and predictable crude oil supplies at reasonable prices.
Al Ghais appreciated India’s constructive engagement with OPEC and its contribution to the global energy dialogue. He assured Puri of OPEC’s commitment to maintaining a balanced and stable oil market that benefits both producers and consumers. He also welcomed India’s initiatives to promote clean energy and sustainable development. He invited Puri to attend the upcoming OPEC-India Energy Dialogue, which is scheduled to take place later this year.
