India’s Historic Shift: From the Old Parliament Complex to the New Parliament Complex

Today, India marks a momentous occasion as the sittings of Parliament shift from the Old Parliament Complex to the New Parliament Complex. This transition represents a turning point in India’s contemporary history, symbolizing the nation’s journey towards becoming a developed country under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the concept of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh highlights the significance of this milestone, stating that as India aims to take off on a growth trajectory and secure a place in the comity of Developed Countries, the timing of this transition is not merely coincidental. It aligns with India entering the Amritkaal, following the conclusion of the yearlong celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.

For the present Members of Parliament of the 17th Lok Sabha, this occasion holds immense value as they have the privilege of serving their term partly from the Old Parliament and now from the New Parliament. Dr Jitendra Singh acknowledges Prime Minister Modi’s thoughtful suggestion of renaming the Old Parliament as Samvidhan Sadan, recognizing its pride of place in Indian democracy.

The New Parliament Complex stands as a symbol of India’s progress, reflecting the nation’s aspirations for the future. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to support the functioning of Parliament and provide a conducive environment for lawmakers to engage in meaningful discussions and decision-making.

As we embark on this new chapter in India’s parliamentary history, we anticipate greater efficiency, enhanced transparency, and increased collaboration among parliamentarians. The New Parliament Complex will serve as a catalyst for driving positive change and shaping the destiny of our great nation.
