SJVN marked its 33rd Raising Day
Shimla: SJVN a Schedule ‘A’ and ‘Mini Ratna’, Power PSU commemorated its 33rd Raising Day today at its Corporate Headquarters at Shimla and at all its Project Offices in Himachal, Uttrakhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar and in neighbouring countries of Nepal and Bhutan. The Company Flag was unfurled by the Chairman and Managing Director Sh. Nand Lal Sharma in august presence of Director (Electrical) Sh RK Bansal, Director (Personnel) Mrs Geeta Kapur, Director (Civil) Sh SP Bansal and Director (Finance) Sh AK Singh. Keeping in view the MHA guidelines, of social distancing limited number of employees were present on the occasion. Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, while addressing the employees stated that presently the whole world is facing the COVID-19 challenge and in view ofthe strict government guidelines, this year SJVN is not organizing any ceremonial activity. Never the less, it is time for SJVNites to reflect back on its journey and its historical milestones. Sh. Nand Lal Sharma asserted that this company which started with a single Hydro Project in the year 1988, today has portfolio of 7489.2 MW, out of which 2015.2 MW is under Operation, 2880 MW is Under Construction, 482 MW is under pre-construction & investment approval and 2112 MW is under Survey & Investigation Stage. The company has also diversified in other fields of Energy Generation & Transmission. While reiterating his belief in Team SJVN, he said that SJVN is vigorously marching forward for achieving installed capacity of 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by year 2040.Sh. Sharma further elaborated that Hydro Power is core competence of Team SJVN and presently the construction activities of 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project are in full swing in the State of Uttarakhand. He further added that for the development of 900 MW Arun 3 Hydro Electric Project Hydro Project in Nepal the company will be investing approximately Rs. 6959 crore in Nepal over the next five years.
The construction activities of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal power Plant in Buxar, Bihar are in full swing and SJVN is planning to commission this project in the year 2023. He further informed that SJVN has entered into MoUs with Government of Himachal Pradesh for implementation of Eight (8) Hydro Projects. The total capacity of these projects is 2388 MW and the development of these projects involves investment of Rs. 24,000 crores.
Sh. Nand Lal Sharma informed that in series of steps to support the government in battle against COVID-19, SJVN has contributed Rs. 25,00,00,000/- (Twenty-Five Crore) towards PM CARES fund. He also informed that SJVN has also provided a financial support of around Rs. 2,00,00,000 (Two Crore) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh for procuring ventilators, Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs), food, masks, sanitizers and gloves in various hospitals. Besides, the CMD mentioned, that he was happy to note, that SJVN employees, recognizing the gravity of Global pandemic, have voluntarily come forward to contribute their one-day salary to PM Care Fund and CM Relief fund each respectively. Sh. Sharma congratulated all the employees of SJVN and exhorted everyone to take specific actions with a sense of speed and urgency to fulfill shared vision of SJVN.
