THDCIL celebrated Indian Organ Donation Day with the ‘Angadan Mahotsav

Rishikesh : THDC India Limited organized the Angadan Mahotsav (Organ Donation) on August 3, 2023, at its Corporate Headquarters in Rishikesh, along with its Project and Unit offices. The primary objective of this event was to raise awareness about organ donation and clear any misconceptions surrounding it. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, spoke about the Government of India’s initiatives to facilitate organ donation and transplant.

He highlighted the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO)’s establishment, which has played a crucial role in providing an efficient and organized system of organ procurement and distribution in the country. NOTTO aims to bridge the gap between organ donors and patients in need, ensuring a more streamlined approach to organ transplantation. To commemorate Indian Organ Donation Day on August 3, 2023, the Angadan Mahotsav awareness campaign was celebrated under the prestigious banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This day marks the historical milestone of the first deceased donor organ transplant in India, which was also the first Heart transplant performed after the promulgation of “The Transplantation of Human Organs Act” on July 8, 1994. All employees actively participated in the Angadan Mahotsav awareness campaign, reflecting their dedication to this initiative. J. Behera, Director (Finance), administered the pledge of ‘Angadan Mahotsav’ in the presence of Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), to all employees at the Corporate Office in Rishikesh, to actively promote organ donation awareness and generously offer their organs for donation to benefit society. R. K. Vishnoi expressed his satisfaction with the team’s collective efforts, exemplified by the enthusiastic participation and the inspiring pledge taken by them.

The event serves as a testament to THDC India Limited’s commitment to contributing to society’s well-being and furthering the cause of organ donation awareness.
