A Big Question: Filling of Top Post in PSUs ?

(Under Cover Reporter) Irrespective of the Government of any party, the commands to fill up lies in the hand of top bureaucrats of the concerned ministry in mismanaging the entire system of the functioning of any PSUs. Most of the top bureaucrats are posted to ministry at the verge of retirements. At this age, they are more concerned to their post-retirement avenues. Some of them are sure to grab lucrative posts in government itself but not all.

Those who decide to come out from the government look for opportunities to their post retirement life, where they easily trapped by mediators in their circle, then the plan starts from PSUs. Newsip had earlier also raised the issue of corruption started with appointments in jobs, on which the head of the department had said that this was a mere local issue.

On 9th May interview was held by PSEB to fill up the post of Director (Pipeline ) of IOCL. The results declared immediately by PSEB.

On the other hand one day before on 8th May 23, an interview was held to fill up the top post of PFC, the results came after eight o’clock in the night.

Our expert’s opinion is that there could be a reason for the difference of timings in announcement of both the results. In the subsequent interview, the tenure Secretary is left with few days.

The delay may not be said routine in nature, as was exceptional. Although several reasons can be forwarded for the delay, which are being discussed in hushed tones from the ministry to the corporate world.

Some points out that a group of bureaucrats who ruled the Energy Department for years, toppled the group of servant royals who had access to the top of power, while some are of the opinion that there is something special in this appointment.

It is also said that all the candidates who appeared in the interview were well aware about the selection much in advance. The time taken for making the selection list left everyone’s eyes wide open.

One can guess if a candidate gets reprimanded in school even after he comes first in the exam, reasons are obvious. It’s also true that grace numbers can be and is often given by only those who have the right to give the grace numbers. We do not need to tell who had the right to give numbers in this interview, but yes when the number giver is near retirement and
if some middleman is also found to be involved one can imagine to what extent the concerned can go to perpetuate injustice.
