Shri R. K. Tyagi Assumes Leadership as CMD at POWERGRID: Pioneering the Energy Landscape with Business Acumen
Gurugram, 01.01.2024: In a pivotal development for the Power Sector, Shri Ravindra Kumar Tyagi has assumed the role of Chairman and Managing Director at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a distinguished Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
Shri Tyagi, previously serving as the Director of Operations within the organization, brings with him an extensive 33-year tenure in the power sector, marked by his leadership in prominent positions within leading CPSUs.
His professional journey encompasses a comprehensive array of responsibilities, spanning vital facets of POWERGRID’s business landscape, including Asset Management, Engineering, Business Development on both domestic and international fronts, Telecommunications, Load Dispatch & Communication, NTAMC, DMS, and stewardship of POWERGRID’s North Eastern Region.
A distinguished Electrical Engineer hailing from Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, Shri Tyagi further fortified his expertise with an M. Tech. in Energy Studies from IIT Delhi. His academic accolades include being a “Fulbright Scholar” from Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Notably, he has authored over 50 technical papers, showcasing his contributions in National and International conferences.
Shri Tyagi has played a pivotal role in representing India in numerous International technical committees, contributing to the formulation of various Technical Standards. His exemplary contributions have earned him acclaim on both national and international fronts, reinforcing the economic implications of his leadership in the power sector.
