THDCIL Signs MoU for 1400 MW Pumped Storage Project in Chhattisgarh

Rishikesh, March 11, 2025 – Shri R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman & Managing Director of THDCIL, emphasized that pumped storage projects are vital for balancing renewable energy generation, ensuring grid stability, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. He reiterated THDCIL’s commitment to providing clean, affordable, and sustainable power while highlighting the project’s role in strengthening renewable energy infrastructure in Chhattisgarh and supporting India’s clean energy transition.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a 1400 MW Pumped Storage Hydro Electric Power Project at Dangari, Jashpur, has been signed between THDC India Limited (THDCIL), Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL), and the Government of Chhattisgarh. The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain at an event held in Raipur.

Shri Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) of THDCIL, highlighted that the Dangari Pumped Storage Project will optimize energy utilization by storing surplus power during off-peak hours and generating electricity during peak demand. Advanced engineering and state-of-the-art technologies will be utilized to ensure the project’s efficiency.

Senior officials from the Government of Chhattisgarh, CSPGCL, and THDCIL were present during the MoU exchange. This collaboration marks a crucial step toward strengthening renewable energy infrastructure in the state and reinforcing India’s commitment to sustainable power solutions
