New Delhi, 13th December 2024: In a significant move to bolster India’s sports infrastructure, REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, has partnered with THDC India Limited (THDCIL) to construct an Olympic-standard swimming pool in Koteshwar, Tehri, Uttarakhand. The ₹3.97 crore initiative, part of REC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aims to enhance facilities at the THDCIL Water Sports High Performance Academy of Canoeing & Kayaking.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was formalized on Friday by Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director of CSR at REC, and Shri Amardeep, General Manager of THDCIL and President of SEWA THDC. Distinguished attendees included Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman and Managing Director of REC; Shri Harsh Baweja, Director (Finance) at REC; and Shri Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel) at THDCIL.
The proposed facility will serve as a training ground for national-level athletes in water sports such as canoeing and kayaking. By offering advanced infrastructure, the project seeks to elevate India’s global performance in these disciplines and develop a talent pipeline for international competitions.
REC’s initiative reflects its commitment to fostering excellence in sports and supporting athlete development at the grassroots and professional levels. This collaboration aligns with the company’s vision to strengthen India’s presence on international sporting platforms.
Over the years, REC has emerged as a key contributor to socio-economic development through its extensive CSR endeavors.
