REC Limited Receives ‘Innovative Technology Development Award’ at IIT Madras CSR Summit

Chennai/Gurugram,19/02/2024- REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE (Central Public Sector Enterprise) under the Ministry of Power, has been lauded with the ‘Innovative Technology Development Award’ at the ‘Building India 2047: Technology for Better Tomorrow’ CSR Summit hosted by IIT Madras. The prestigious accolade recognizes REC’s outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative – the installation of a 2 MW Roof Top Solar plant at IIT Madras.

Smt Taruna Gupta, Executive Director (CSR), and Smt Thara Ramesh, CPM, REC, Regional Office Chennai, accepted the award on behalf of REC. Notable attendees at the ceremony included Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Hon’ble Minister of IT and Digital Services of Tamil Nadu, and Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, who commended REC’s dedication to sustainable development goals.

The 2 MW solar plant, a testament to REC’s commitment to a greener future, generates approximately 3.15 million units of clean energy annually, significantly reducing IIT Madras’ carbon footprint. REC Limited, through its CSR arm, REC Foundation, consistently prioritizes projects aligning with national priorities and sustainable development goals.

This recognition adds to REC Limited’s growing list of accolades, including the Global CSR Leadership Awards and the PSE Excellence Award for CSR in 2023.
