REC Allocates Rs. 10 Cr to Mobile Medical Units Initiative
Gurugram, 18 July 2024*: REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power, has entered into an agreement with the Indian Red Cross Society to enhance healthcare access in underserved regions. This partnership, formalized in the presence of senior officials including Chairman and Managing Director Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, involves a Rs. 10 Cr investment for the purchase and operation of nine Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) over the next three years.
The MMUs are designed to provide crucial medical services to marginalized communities in Punjab and Rajasthan, bringing healthcare directly to those who may otherwise lack access. This effort is part of REC’s ‘Doctor Aapke Dwaar’ initiative, which already operates 10 Mobile Health Clinics in Chhattisgarh.
REC Foundation has a broad portfolio of over 400 CSR projects addressing healthcare, sanitation, clean water, education, skill development, women empowerment, sports, and environmental sustainability. The foundation has disbursed over Rs. 1,300 Crore in CSR funds, with its overall commitment exceeding Rs. 2,000 Crore.
The Indian Red Cross Society, with more than 1,100 branches nationwide, provides disaster relief and support to vulnerable populations. As a key member of the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement, it plays a significant role in global humanitarian efforts.
