SJVN Achieves 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project Synchronized with National Grid
SHIMLA, 15.11.2023 – In a significant development, SJVN, a prominent Power CPSU, has successfully synchronized the first unit of its 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP) with the National Grid. The project, situated on the River Tons in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, reached this milestone under the leadership of Sh. Shamra N.L. Nandlal Ji, (CMD)
Sh. Nand Lal Sharma announced the successful synchronization of the first unit of the Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project (NMHEP), marking a crucial step in harnessing the hydroelectric potential of Uttarakhand. The project, inaugurated in 2018 by Hon’ble Union Power Minister Sh. R.K Singh and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Sh. Trivender Singh Rawat, is a Run of the River venture boasting two generating units of 30 MW each.
Sh. Nand Lal Sharma praised the design team and officials for their efforts in bringing the NMHEP to the commissioning stage. The second 30 MW unit is scheduled to be synchronized later this month, with the project expected to generate 265.5 million units of electricity annually.
The NMHEP, equipped with a 37 km 220 KV Transmission Line for power evacuation, will supply 12% of its electricity as royalty to the state of Uttarakhand. Additionally, each Project Affected Family will receive an amount equivalent to the cost of 100 units of electricity per month for ten years.
Apart from addressing energy needs, the project aims to contribute to the overall development of the region. Infrastructure development, direct and indirect employment generation, and various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, including health services, skill development, and cultural promotion, are benefiting the local populace.
Treading the path of impeccable progress, SJVN remains dedicated to contributing to the energy goals of the Government of India. With a mission of achieving 12,000 MW by 2026 and a shared vision of 50,000 MW installed capacity by 2040, SJVN continues to play a vital role in India’s power sector.More on NewsIP
