Hon’ble Prime Minister of India dedicates Dynamic Architectural Illumination with synchronized light & sound system of Rabindra Setu, Kolkata to the Nation on January 11, 2020.
Hon’ble Prime Minister shall dedicate State-of-the-Art Technology, environmental friendly, energy saving and low life cycle cost Dynamic Architectural Illumination with synchronized light & sound system of Rabindra Setu (Howrah Bridge) Kolkata, installed by the Central Public Works Department to the Nation on January 11, 2020.CPWD under the Dynamic Leadership of Shri Prabhakar Singh, once again showcased its capability and professional competence by executing this most challenging work within a very stringent timeline of 30 days. This work costing about Rs.17 Crore was entrusted to CPWD by the Kolkata Port Trust, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India. Dynamic volumetric lighting of Rabindra Setu and installation of Sound System at Millennium Park has been done for synchronized light and sound show at Millennium Park. Direct view light fixtures have been installed to highlight the profile of Bridge. An application for Android and iOS platforms has been developed for commuters to experience synchronized light and sound show while going on ferries in the river and nearby roads. Entire system has been designed for innovative and inspirational lighting, Transformative Power of Light Digital Technology, Easier Maintenance, Content renewal Programming as per event and integrated light and sound control.
Water and dust resistant 632 LED Light Fixtures suitable for outdoor operations and 40 high specialall weather outdoor type speakers, Electronic Controllers, Digital Switches & Programming Modules, Amplifiers and Digital sound processorhave been used in the installation of the system.Energy Efficient LED fixtures used in theinstallation will consume 20% of electric power as compared to conventional light fixtures for similar level of illumination. Fixtures with long life of 15 years, capable of creating 16 million colourcombinations with excellent intensity, timing and computerized control with very fast switching time, suitable for light and sound show have been used.There would be substantial power and cost savingas present dynamic Lighting will consume 68 kW against 485 kW of earlier conventional fixtures, thereby conserving energy and cost saving worth Rs. 37 Lakhs/year for 3 hours operation per day.Work involved dismantling of old light fixtures, removal of old cabling, panels and fabrication andinstallation of new brackets for dynamic lights without any welding, drilling on the bridge structure. During execution, all safety measures were taken for workers deployed in the work on bridge having highest point at 74 metres and also for the public commuting through the busy road on the bridge. Work has been carried out on running road having heavy traffic even in night hoursbesides continuous rains during most of the available working time.
