New Delhi, 26th January, 2024*: In a significant stride towards a gas-based economy, PNGRB Chairman, Mr. Anil Kumar Jain, spearheaded the launch of a nationwide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) Drive from Dhansa Village near Najafgarh in Delhi. The inaugural event saw the initiation of domestic PNG supply by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) in the village. Stakeholders, including Mr. Gajendra Singh and Mr. A. K. Tewari of PNGRB, along with Mr. Kamal Kishore Chatiwal and Mr. Pawan Kumar of IGL, marked their presence.
Commencing on the 75th Republic Day, the PNG Drive, scheduled until 31st March 2024, aims to promote PNG across diverse geographical areas. IGL, in collaboration with PNGRB, plans to provide PNG connections in 57 villages of South West Delhi, starting from Dhansa. Attractive schemes for PNG registration have been unveiled during the campaign.
Mr. Anil Kumar Jain emphasized the importance of villages and towns as stakeholders in the nation’s growth. Encouraging the adoption of clean energy in rural areas through initiatives like biogas, he applauded IGL for its CGD leadership. IGL’s MD, Mr. Kamal Kishore Chatiwal, highlighted the transformative impact of PNG on kitchens, making them smart, and expressed IGL’s commitment to connect villages, contributing to India’s development.
IGL has already connected over 17 lakh kitchens in Delhi, and the focus is now on rural areas. Notably, 450 households in Dhansa village have registered for PNG, with supply initiation underway. The PNG Drive signifies a strategic move towards sustainable energy, making villages smart and fueling India’s development vision by 2047.
