India Habitat Centre Launches ‘Bharat Bodh Kendra’

New Delhi, May 10, 2025. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, emphasized today that “passing India’s cultural consciousness to the new generation is the need of the hour.” With this vision, the India Habitat Centre (IHC) inaugurated the ‘Bharat Bodh Kendra’ — a new facility aimed at deepening the understanding of India’s civilizational and cultural heritage.

The centre will feature a curated collection of books and resources on Indian art, music, history, philosophy, and spirituality. Open to IHC members, the initiative is designed as a dedicated space for study and exploration, encouraging reflection on India’s timeless traditions and contemporary cultural discourse.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Minister lauded IHC’s environment-friendly initiatives and suggested that such practices should be adopted by more institutions. He highlighted the Centre’s role as a model institution for promoting both sustainability and cultural awareness.

Following the ceremony, Shri Katikithala Srinivas, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and President of IHC, along with Prof. (Dr.) K. G. Suresh, Director of IHC, gave the Minister a tour of the sprawling nine-acre campus. The walkthrough showcased the Centre’s distinctive architecture, eco-friendly features, and its significance as a hub for cultural and intellectual engagement.

Also present on the occasion were Shri Sanjay Kulshrestha, CMD of HUDCO, Shri Sanjay Shukla, MD of NHB, and senior officials from the Ministry and IHC.
