New Delhi, 09 January 2025: Contributing 75% of India’s domestic crude oil and natural gas production, ONGC is set to transform the Mumbai High (MH) Field with cutting-edge interventions. The offshore field, discovered in 1974, has long been a vital energy resource but faces challenges due to maturing reservoirs.
Through an International Competitive Bidding (ICB) process, BP Exploration (Alpha) Ltd., a subsidiary of BP Plc, has been selected as the Technical Services Provider (TSP). This collaboration will focus on deploying advanced recovery technologies and optimizing field operations to enhance output.
Production is projected to surge significantly, with crude oil output expected to rise by 44% and gas production by 89% over a decade. The improvements could yield an additional USD 10.3 billion in revenue and bolster India’s energy self-reliance.
The initiative aligns with ONGC’s strategy to maximize the potential of mature fields while ensuring sustainable energy solutions. Visible output gains are anticipated from FY’26, reinforcing Mumbai High’s position as a key contributor to India’s energy ecosystem.
