Report by: Z A Ansari | Source: Exclusive to NewsIP : New Delhi: The process for appointing the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC, a leading player in the power sector, has entered its final phase. According to high-level sources at NewsIP, the Ministry of Power has given its consent for the appointment to move forward.
Sources reveal that the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) recently submitted a panel of shortlisted candidates and requested the Ministry to finalize a date for interviews. The interview process is likely to take place in the last week of April.
It is noteworthy that the extended tenure of NTPC’s current CMD is nearing its end, which has added urgency to the appointment process.
All eyes are now on whether PESB finalizes a candidate from the shortlisted panel or if the process takes a different route to accommodate a preferred choice.
The corporate and power sectors are closely watching this key leadership development.
