NMDC Reports Robust Growth in Iron Ore Production and Sales for Q1 FY 2025-26

New Delhi, July 2, 2025 —State-run mining giant NMDC Ltd. has released provisional data on iron ore production and sales for the month of June 2025, as well as cumulative figures for the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26, indicating a significant year-on-year increase in output.
According to the company’s disclosure, total iron ore production in June 2025 stood at 3.57 million tonnes (MT), up from 3.37 MT recorded in June 2024. Sales volumes for the month reached 3.58 MT, compared to 3.73 MT during the same period last year.
Strong Performance in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka
In Chhattisgarh, NMDC reported a monthly production of 2.28 MT in June 2025, slightly higher than 2.21 MT in June 2024. Sales from the state totalled 2.34 MT, compared to 2.68 MT in the corresponding month last year.
Meanwhile, operations in Karnataka showed notable improvement. June production rose to 1.29 MT from 1.16 MT a year earlier, while sales increased to 1.24 MT, up from 1.05 MT in June 2024.
Cumulative Q1 Output Reflects Strong Growth
For the first quarter of FY 2025-26 (April to June), NMDC achieved a cumulative production of 11.99 MT, marking a significant jump from 9.19 MT during the same period in FY 2024-25. Cumulative sales for the quarter reached 11.51 MT, compared to 10.07 MT in the previous fiscal.
• In Chhattisgarh, cumulative production rose to 8.18 MT, up from 5.83 MT, with sales increasing to 8.13 MT from 7.33 MT.
• In Karnataka, cumulative production climbed to 3.81 MT against 3.36 MT, while sales stood at 3.38 MT, compared to 2.74 MT in the same period last year.
Outlook
NMDC’s consistent performance in both production and sales underscores its strong operational efficiency and growing demand in the steel and infrastructure sectors. The latest figures position the company on track to achieve its annual targets, contributing to India’s broader goals of industrial growth and self-reliance in raw material supply.
