NHPC conferred Water Digest ‘Water Award’ for Best Implementation of Dam Rehabilitation Project
NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company and a ‘Mini Ratna’ Category-I Enterprise of the Government of India, was honoured as ‘Winner’ in category of ‘Best Implementation of Dam Rehabilitation Project’ at the Water Digest Water Awards, 2021-2022 held at New Delhi on 29th March 2022.
The Award was received by Shri A.K Singh, CMD, NHPC from Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
The Award is in recognition of the innovative work done in the Rehabilitation of Dam and other Components of NHPC’s 280 MW Dhauliganga Power Station (Uttarkhand) after devastating Flood in the Year 2013. NHPC‘s innovative idea of fixing steel liner with the countersunk bolts near the existing spillway crest & upper part of glacis was attempted for the first time in India. NHPC has also used high performance cementitious mortar conforming to EN 1504-3 (R4) standard which was also successfully used for the first time in a hydro project in India.
