NHPC and Nepal Forge Stronger Ties in Renewable Energy Collaboration

Faridabad: Shri R.K. Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), warmly welcomed a high-level delegation from Nepal, led by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Shri Kamal Bahadur Shah, at NHPC’s corporate office in Faridabad on May 1, 2025. This visit has paved the way for enhanced cooperation between India and Nepal in the realm of renewable energy and sustainable development.
Chaudhary emphasized that Nepal is viewed as a strategic partner in India’s pursuit of clean energy and energy security, underscoring the need for Nepal to expedite the finalization of concessions for the 800 MW West Seti and 460 MW SR6 hydroelectric projects. Meanwhile, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shah highlighted the critical role of bilateral collaboration in fostering a greener future and regional progress.
The Nepalese delegation was presented with a comprehensive overview of NHPC’s vision, capabilities, and expertise in renewable energy development. They also toured NHPC’s state-of-the-art Early Warning Monitoring Control Room, Real-Time Generation Monitoring Centre, and Hydro Experience Centre. Discussions during the visit centered on energy innovation and regional partnerships, reflecting NHPC’s strategic advancements and the deepening India-Nepal relationship.
