Major Shakeup at HPCL as ONGC Subsidiary Announces High-Profile Officer Reshuffle

In a significant organizational move, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), has announced a sweeping reshuffle across its senior leadership. According to an official memorandum dated December 24, 2024, several top executives have been reassigned to key roles, marking a strategic shift in the company’s operations and leadership structure.

Effective from January 1, 2025, and extending into the following months, the reshuffle impacts numerous departments, including Retail, Corporate Strategy, LPG, Marketing Finance, and Natural Gas. Notable transitions include:
•   Kumar Jain Anuj, previously Executive Director of LPG, will now lead the Retail SBU at HQO.
•   Sandeep Maheshwari moves from Retail to spearhead Corporate Strategy and Business Development.
•   Dhruv Kapil, currently part of the Office of C&MD, will take over the LPG division.
•   Ramanathan Ramakrishnan retains his leadership at the Visakh Refinery but now as Executive Director (In-Charge).

Promotions from Salary Grade “H” to “I” also signal HPCL’s focus on grooming internal talent for greater responsibilities. Key promotions include:
•   Subramanian Ramakrishnan, now Executive Director of Supplies, Operations, and Distribution.
•   Muralikrishna Vadrevu Venkata, appointed as Executive Director for Non-Fuel Business.
•   Amit Mitra, taking on the role of Executive Assistant to the C&MD.

The reshuffle is seen as a bold move to align HPCL’s leadership with its evolving business priorities, including its foray into green energy, corporate finance, and integrated margin management.

The changes come amidst growing industry competition and the company’s commitment to achieving its strategic goals under ONGC’s broader vision. Analysts view the restructuring as a pivotal step to enhance efficiency and innovation in HPCL’s operations.
