International Women’s Day 2023 celebrated at NHPC

NHPC observed International Women’s Day under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with great fervor and enthusiasm at its Corporate Office, Faridabad on 14th March 2023. NHPC’s T&HRD Division and NHPC WIPs (Women in Power Sector) cell organized a one-day workshop for NHPC women employees under the theme ‘Digital – Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’ to commemorate International Women’s Day.

Smt. Indra Banerjee, Retd. Judge, Supreme Court of India was the Chief Guest on the occasion, and Smt. Pinky Anand, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India was the Guest of Honour. Shri Y.K. Chaubey, Director (Technical), NHPC, Shri R.P. Goyal, Director (Finance), NHPC, and Shri Biswajit Basu, Director (Projects), NHPC were also present along with Dr. Kamla Fartyal, GGM (MS) cum Chairperson, WIPS Cell, NHPC, Smt. Niti Singh, GSM (Law) cum General Secretary, WIPs Cell, NHPC, and other senior officers and women employees.  In her address, Smt. Banerjee gave an insight into the judicial system and highlighted the various measures taken toward women’s empowerment. Speaking on occasion, Shri Y.K. Chaubey, Director (Technical) & Director (Personnel), NHPC praised all the lady employees for their hard work and for successfully managing their professional as well as personal lives. Smt. Pinky Anand also commended NHPC lady employees and further highlighted issues concerning gender equality.

The other notable speakers during the workshop included Ms. Christine Arnt, Lecturer, University of Zurich, and part-time Judge,  Swiss Federal Supreme Court, Smt. Rano Jain, CA and Ex-member, ITAT, and Smt Archana Pandey and Shri Siddharth Prakash from Art of Living Centre.    A special highlight of the program was the launch of NHPC e-learning portal ‘E-Shiksha’ by Shri Y.K. Chaubey, Director (Technical), NHPC. During the function 31 NHPC women employees were also felicitated in recognition of their professional competence and also for their achievements in various sporting tournaments conducted by Power Sports Control Board. Earlier, NHPC WIPs Cell had also organized a Talk on Cyber Security on March 3rd 2023 in association with Haryana Police and Talk on Mental Health by Dr Jaya Sukul, Clinical Psychologist, Marengo Asia Hospitals as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.

To coincide with International Women’s Day celebrations, a study visit of 10 representatives of the local Women Group of Arunachal Pradesh was also organized wherein the delegation met Shri Y.K. Chaubey, Director (Technical), Shri R.P. Goyal, Director (Finance) and Shri Biswajit Basu, Director (Projects) and praised NHPC’s for its hospitality and initiatives towards local developmental activities. The group shall further visit NHPC power stations in Jammu & Kashmir to understand about advantages of hydropower projects for local people.
