NewsIP has been giving early warning signals about something really amiss at Air India. (Kindly look up articles cited below.) Could the tragic Aircrash at Ahmedabad on 12.06.2025 been averted? Experts feel had Air India been more cautious and given heed to the various warnings given by DGCA, Pilots, Passengers et al the mishap could perhaps been averted. India would not have lost precious lives and become the nightmare of the Aviation world. Those in the know, feel that there had been one cut in the corner too many.This intrinsically safety driven sector has to be handled sensitively.
It’s a tough sector where rules of the game change everyday and a good pedigree of Aviation pioneers may not guarantee success. It’s sad that those who call the shots in the company have failed the nation once again. Well in India, cost of lives is very less. Even the well heeled and powerful become nobodies in the face of the _Chalta Hai_ culture. India and Gujarat also lost one of its illustrious, accomplished and hardworking leaders-

NewsIP has constantly reminded that total privatization of Businesses was not a cure all. Some strategic sectors require that the government should stay invested for the overall betterment of the nation and its citizens. Air India was a good, albeit loss making PSU. There could have been multiple ways of bringing it out of the red but policy makers were blinded by the shine of a famous private business house and quick bucks for the economy and the result is for all to see. Re – Branding, New Designer Uniforms, Younger Staff, Promises of good inflight food became priorities.
But the Tata way still put profits above all. Scant attention was paid to the fundamentals of the Aviation industry. Safety and Health of Aircrafts were possibly given a pass over. The hard, demanding, obligatory basics were overlooked. The result is before us. Even on 12.06.2025, the day of the accident, Air India, according to mainstream media, reported 3 Technical glitches. All this despite the aviation watchdog constantly ticking off the Airline.
What is most regrettable is that India and its people have very short memories. Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Devastating fire at Jaipur fuel depot, various Train Accidents, attack on Parliament, Taj & Oberoi hotels, Bangalore Cricket fans fiasco, the list goes on. All taken in the stride. Stoicism and taking it on the chin have their own shortcomings.
The time has come when the Karmic philosophy has to give way to a more modern, scientific and effective civic life in India. Some ruthlessness in implementation of basic Rule of law has to prevail. Newtonian reaction is called for lest those who play with human lives keep getting away with it. Political Will needs to be strengthened. Pandering to a few and select classes has to stop. NewsIP rests its case.
The reasons for the Air India Dreamliner Crash are being speculated in absence of any report based on scientific evidence which in any case may take some time in coming. From supposed intrinsic design flaws of Dreamliner Aircraft, Excessive Fuel, High atmospheric Temperature at Ahmedabad, Poor lift due to thin Air, Bird Hit, Catastrophic both Engines failure, Wrong Lining up and Trajectory of take off to Sabotage all are being conjectured! The reasons may ultimately never come out due to the complicated studies involved, as also the most important Need to Know principle.
No need to create unnecessary panic amongst flyers and the general public. Time is a great healer! And platitudes take care of remaining disgruntlement. People forget, people pardon. India is known for its restraint. This matter will also pass. Let’s not forget we are a nation of pacifists. In this infinite cycle of time and existence a plane crash is not even a nano dot.
Still, the heart goes out to those who have lost their loved ones, those who have been injured, even those who are lucky to escape with their lives, yet are severely traumatised. As the famous Bollywood song lamented …. __Ye zindagi ke mele duniya me kam na honge afsos hum na honge._ Yes the show must go on.
