Hardeep S. Puri Chairs Meeting on Energy Reforms and Infrastructure

New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep S. Puri chaired the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry’s Consultative Committee meeting in Manesar, highlighting India’s progress in affordable energy, expanded LPG coverage, and robust infrastructure.
Despite global fuel price surges, India reduced petrol and diesel prices through excise duty cuts in 2021 and 2022. The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana boosted LPG coverage from 55% in 2014 to near-universal levels, with PMUY consumers paying just ₹553 for a 14.2-kg cylinder.

MPs praised energy reforms, infrastructure growth, and consumer-centric policies, offering practical suggestions to enhance affordability, regional equity, and energy resilience.
