Govt. of Himachal 500 MW Dugar Hydroelectric Project signs with NHPC

Shimla: The implementation Agreement for the 500 MW Dugar Hydro Electric Project located in Chamba District, Himachal Pradesh was signed between NHPC Limited and the Government of Himachal Pradesh on 26.08.2022 at Shimla. The Agreement was signed in the august presence of Shri Jai Ram Thakur, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh and Shri A.K. Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, NHPC Limited. The document was signed by Shri Suresh Kumar, General Manager (E), NHPC and Shri Harikesh Meena, IAS, Director (Energy), Directorate of Energy (DoE), Govt. of Himachal Pradesh

Shri Y.K. Chaubey, Director (Technical), Shri V.R. Shrivastava, Executive Director, (SBD&C), Shri S.K. Sandhu, Executive Director (Regional Office Chandigarh) from NHPC and Shri Khem Singh Thakur, Chief Engineer and Shri Anshul Sharma, SE from DoE, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the 449 MW Dugar Hydro Electric Project was signed between NHPC & Government of Himachal Pradesh on 25.09.2019. Subsequent to the signing of the MoU, NHPC carried out detailed surveys & Investigations, and techno-economic studies and submitted a DPR for an enhanced capacity of 500 MW to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). The accord of Concurrence to Project was issued by Central Electricity Authority on 26.04.2022. Forest and Environment clearances in respect of the Project are in process. Dugar Hydroelectric Project will generate 1759.85 Million Units in a 90% dependable year with 95% machine availability.
