EESL hosts consultation workshop on the Demonstration of Energy Efficiency Project (DEEP); to invest INR 150 crores for upscaling projects
New Delhi, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), statutory body under Ministry of Power and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, organized a workshop on the Demonstration of Energy Efficiency project across India, in association with Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), and State Designated Agencies of state of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa.
Under the project, BEE and EESL with their collaborative approach and expertise, aim to deploy eight innovative energy efficiency technologies in PAT industries. For this, twenty-seven demonstrations will be held across the country for upscaling 100 projects, with an investment to the tune of INR 150 crores. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is keen to deploy innovative energy efficient technologies in the PAT industries and will leverage EESL’s vast experience in the implementation of large-scale energy-efficient projects through innovative financial models and demand aggregation.
During the DEEP consultation workshop, key dignitaries from BEE, EESL, GEDA, Climate Change Department (CCD), Government of Gujarat shared insights about the importance of energy efficient technologies for PAT industries. Few of the eminent luminaries present at the event include- Mr. Ravi Shankar Prajapati, Joint Director, BEE; Ms. Shivani Goyal, Director, Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA); Mr. Girja Shankar – Head (Corporate Driven Program) EESL; Mr. Shwetal Shah, Technical Advisor, CCD; Mr. Kunal Gadvi, CCD; Mr. A, K. Asthana, Industrial Expert.
Highlighting the key benefits and available support of DEEP project, Mr. Girja Shankar, Head (CDP), said, “EESL is extending the support available from BEE under the DEEP project to designated consumers and expanding the learnings of demo projects in market transformation of identified technologies. The DEEP project will lead to mainstreaming energy efficiency in the industries. EESL’s programmes have made a significant contribution in upscaling India’s energy efficiency portfolio. Through DEEP, we will continue our concerted efforts to help the country meet its climate action goals with widespread adoption of innovative technologies. EESL will also organize a similar workshop on 20th July 2022.”
Addressing the meeting, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prajapati– Joint Director (BEE) stated, “Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) Scheme is the one of the flagship programmes of BEE to enable a reduction in carbon footprint from industrial sectors. The successful demonstration of these projects will enhance profitability for industries and support them in achieving the PAT targets.”
Inaugurating the first workshop on DEEP project and speaking about the leadership quality of industries from Gujarat, Ms. Shivani Goyal – Director (GEDA) said, “Gujarat Energy Development Agency will provide full support and showcase the successful implementation of innovative technologies through the DEEP project. GEDA has demonstrated key accomplishments in renewable energy and energy efficiency programmes of BEE and EESL.”
During the workshop, EESL explained the details of approved innovative technologies and demonstrated live demo for submission of expression of interest. The workshop also saw technology solution providers presenting case studies, cost economics and advancement of these technologies during a panel discussion.
