The Vigilance Awareness Week 2020 was inaugurated in BPCL Corporate Office, Mumbai, on 27thOctober 2020 by Shri Sunil Jain, IRTS Chief Vigilance Officer BPCL in the esteemed presence of the Chief Guest Shri Satyabrata Kumar, IRS, Joint Director, Enforcement Directorate, Mumbai, Shri K. Padmakar, C&MD BPCL, Smt. Rajeswari P, Chief General Manager (Vigilance) BPCL and Senior Officials of BPCL. On this occasion, Integrity Pledge was taken by BPCL Officials present on this occasion and by other employees located in various offices in and around Mumbai through a webcast.
Shri Sunil Jain, CVO BPCL his inaugural address said “Vigilance Awareness Week is a point where we need to look back at the steps taken so far, evaluate their effectivity and take corrective measures”. He quoted great examples from the rich Indian literature on corruption and especially the trusteeship concept of Mahatma Gandhi where the great leader has said that the “Rich should treat themselves as trustees of the resources”. He correlated the leader’s concept with the present and added that the employees in government and private sector and PSUs should also treat themselves as custodians and trustee of national resources and disburse them judiciously, thoughtfully and with full transparency.
In his key note address, the Chief Guest Shri Satyabrata Kumar, Joint Director, Enforcement Directorate, Mumbai, held the audience spell bound through the whole gamut of Money Laundering and its impact on the economy and general public at large. He said that the best source to prevent and bring it to the light is the employee. He also outlined the areas in public sector organization where care should be exercised in disbursing resources. The Vigilance Awareness week will be observed from 27th October 2020 to 2nd November 2020 with the theme of “Satark Bharat, Samridhh Bharat – Vigilant India, Prosperous India” and a plethora of activities has been planned during the week to spread awareness and promote Vigilance across the Corporation amongst employees.
