New Delhi/ Noida: The School of Biotechnology is a globally acclaimed integrated academic and research department at Gautam Buddha University (GBU) which is creating a vibrant community of Biotechnology intellectuals and entrepreneurs endowed with Competence and Commitment for the meaningful transformations for the holistic growth and development of the society. The School is an active centre of teaching and applied research with the aim of achieving a balance of basic, applied, and experimental development research. At present, the department is successfully running M.Sc. and M.Tech. programs in Biotechnology with momentous placement opportunities. These programs are consciously designed to expose the students to the methodology, basics, and advances of various areas of biotechnology including health, industry, agriculture, and medicine.
Considering the state-of-art research and teaching infrastructure, highly educated and committed faculty members and innovative course curriculum at GBU, the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Human Resource Development (DBT-HRD), Government of India has recognized the M.Sc. Biotechnology program at GBU under DBT PG Teaching Programme with significant financial support during 15th Finance Commission (2020-21 to 2024-25). Prof. Shweta Anand, Dean School of Biotechnology informed that GBU is one of the premier institutes amongst 34 other Biotechnology institutes of India awarded with this prestigious recognition from the DBT-HRD. Moreover, GBU is the only Uttar Pradesh State Government University awarded with this prestigious M.Sc. program by DBT-HRD. Prof. Anand expressed her gratitude to Prof. B. P. Sharma, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, GBU for his constant guidance and support for this achievement.
Dr. Bhupendra Chaudhary, Head & DBT supported M.Sc. (Biotechnology) Program Coordinator added that for the admission in this program, a Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) has been advertised by the Regional Centre for Biotechnology on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The GAT-B rank holders will be invited to take admission in M.Sc. Biotechnology program at GBU on DBT supported seats. All students admitted under the DBT-supported programs will be paid a monthly stipend and infrastructural support as per the DBT-HRD guidelines. The remaining seats shall be filled through university entrance examination. The department has also advertised M.Sc. programs in Genome Engineering and Molecular Medicine this year.
