(HAMILTON, ON) – In pursuit of fostering an advanced relationship with India and Indian companies, Mayor Fred Eisenberger announced that he will be leading a major investment mission to India from November 17-22. Joining the Mayor will be a number of Hamilton businesses focused on international trade and export opportunities, staff from the Economic Development office who will focus on Foreign Direct Investment and staff from McMaster University/McMaster Innovation Park and Mohawk College regarding research collaborations. As well, the Mayor will be presenting at an event designed to welcome incoming international students to Mohawk College during his visit to Ahmedabad on 18th November 2019.
Mayor Fred Eisenberger had a warm welcome today (18th November 2019) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DACIIT) and Nirma University, and discussed possible collaborations with the authorities. Over the past decade, the City of Hamilton has increasingly become home to a number of Indian-led businesses and the city is increasingly welcoming more Indian international students to Hamilton’s world-class universities and colleges.
The mission will see stops also in New Delhi, and Mumbai to leverage Hamilton’s strengths in advanced manufacturing (aerospace, food and beverage processing), academic research and goods movement. As part of the mission, the Hamilton delegation will be meeting with senior government officials, Canadian-Indian Business Councils, touring key Indian investment areas, and will be engaged in a number of one-on-one business meetings with Indian investors considering a move to Canada and those looking to import Canadian made goods from Hamilton businesses.
